Augmentation mastopexy is a combined procedure that lifts and reshapes your breast while increasing volume. If your breasts have lost firmness or fullness after pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight change or ageing, it might be the right choice for you.

The uplift corrects sagging and repositions the nipple, while augmentation improves projection and upper breast fullness. We can add volume using implants, your own breast tissue, or fat grafting, depending on your anatomy and goals.

Frequently asked questions about breast augmentation and mastopexy

A quick guide to the things most people want to know before and after their procedure.

What is augmentation mastopexy? caret-down

Augmentation mastopexy combines a breast uplift with adding or restoring volume. The uplift reshapes your breast and repositions your nipple, while implants, fat grafting or your own tissue restore fullness.

Is augmentation mastopexy the same as a breast lift? caret-down

A breast lift reshapes and raises your breast but does not add volume. Having an augmentation mastopexy means you can add lift and fullness in the same procedure

How long does an augmentation mastopexy last? caret-down

The uplift part of a breast augmentation mastopexy provides long-lasting improvement, while your implants may need replacement after 10 – 15 years. Natural ageing or weight changes will continue to affect your breast shape.

Who is a good candidate for augmentation mastopexy? caret-down

If you have sagging, volume loss, or reduced upper-breast fullness and want both lift and enlargement at the same time, then an augmentation mastopexy may be a good choice for you. Your surgeon will confirm this at consultation.

Does augmentation mastopexy include implants? caret-down

An augmentation mastopexy can include implants. We can add volume using implants, fat grafting or your own tissue. Your surgeon will explain which option best suits your goals.

How painful is augmentation mastopexy? caret-down

Most people experience moderate discomfort and tightness for a few days after their augmentation mastopexy. Pain is usually managed with over-the-counter medication and good support.

How long is recovery after augmentation mastopexy? caret-down

Most people return to light activity 1 – 2 weeks after their augmentation mastopexy. You should avoid full exercise and lifting for 4 – 6 weeks.

Will my breasts look natural after augmentation mastopexy? caret-down

A natural result is usually achievable when the technique, implant choice and lift pattern match your anatomy. During your consultation we’ll have a detailed discussion of what outcomes you can expect.

What scars will I have after a combined uplift and augmentation? caret-down

Incisions depend on the degree of lift needed. Your scars will likely look like an anchor, around the areola, vertically down the breast and along the inframammary crease. They generally fade over 12 – 18 months.

Does augmentation mastopexy correct drooping nipples and breast tissue? caret-down

An augmentation mastopexy will correct dropping nipples and reposition the volume of the breast to sit higher up on the chest wall. The uplift repositions your nipple to a more natural height while the augmentation improves overall shape and fullness.

Is a combined uplift and augmentation safe? caret-down

A combined uplift and augmentation is safe when performed by a qualified surgeon. All surgery carries risks, and we give you all the information on these during your consultation.

As on one hand you are making the breast tighter (the mastopexy part) and then making the breast larger (the augmentation part), we can choose a modest size breast implant. Larger implants increase the risk of complications with this procedure, and should be staged if you want to consider this.

Does augmentation mastopexy reduce breast size? caret-down

No, an augmentation mastopoexy doesn’t reduce breast size. A lift reshapes and supports your breast without reducing tissue. Implants or fat grafting add volume rather than remove it.

How do I know if I need an uplift with my implants? caret-down

If your nipple sits below the breast crease or your breast has a drooping shape, we might recommend an uplift alongside augmentation. Your surgeon will assess carefully whether this is the right option for you. If you have breast sagging and  would like to increase your breast volume as it sits in your bra, you should opt for an augmentation mastopexy, instead of a mastopexy (breast lift)

Can augmentation mastopexy fix asymmetry? caret-down

An augmentation mastopexy can improve differences in the position, shape and volume of your breasts. Some natural asymmetry will always remain, and we can discuss what this might look like during your consultation.

Can I still breastfeed after an augmentation mastopexy? caret-down

You can usually breastfeed after augmentation mastopexy, but milk supply may be reduced depending on technique, implants, and preserved glandular connections.

What are the common risks of augmentation mastopexy? caret-down

Common risks include bleeding, infection, poor healing, implant complications, capsular contracture, asymmetry, altered nipple sensation, scarring, implant rupture, need for revision surgery, and anaesthetic risks. Further details for risks of surgery will be discussed with you at your consultation.

clear and transparent costs

Pricing and Finance

You will receive a clear quotation setting out the cost of your treatment and what is included before you decide whether to proceed.

Consultation Fees caret-down

A new consultation is charged at £200.

Follow-up consultations are charged at £150, unless the appointment forms part of an agreed surgical package or postoperative follow-up pathway.

Consultation fees are payable regardless of whether surgery is subsequently arranged. A consultation provides assessment, advice and discussion of treatment options; it does not guarantee that surgery will be recommended or offered.

Non-Attendance and Late Cancellation caret-down

Patients are kindly asked to provide at least three working days’ notice if they need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.

Non-attendance, or cancellation with less than three working days’ notice, will incur a fee of £125. This fee reflects the clinical time reserved for the appointment and the difficulty of offering the appointment to another patient at short notice.

Self-Pay Surgery Packages caret-down

For self-pay patients, surgery is usually provided as a fixed-price package. This is intended to give patients clarity and reassurance about the cost of their planned procedure.

Your written quotation will confirm what is included. In most cases, the package price includes:

  • Hospital fees for the planned procedure

  • Surgeon’s fee

  • Anaesthetist’s fee, where applicable

  • Standard postoperative follow-up appointments relating to the procedure

  • Routine aftercare directly related to the planned surgery, as specified in your quotation

Package prices are based on the procedure agreed at the time of booking. If the surgical plan changes, if additional procedures are requested, or if further treatment is required outside the agreed package, additional fees may apply.

Complication Cover caret-down

Self-pay surgical packages usually include a period of cover for the treatment of complications directly related to the procedure. The exact terms, duration and exclusions of this cover are set by the hospital where your surgery is performed.

Depending on the hospital, complication cover may apply for a defined period, which may be 6 or 12 months. Full details will be provided by the relevant hospital before surgery.

Complication cover is not a guarantee that all future treatment, revision surgery or additional procedures will be provided without charge. Cover may not apply to unrelated medical problems, pre-existing conditions, treatment required outside the hospital’s terms, or surgery requested for aesthetic preference rather than a recognised complication.

In an emergency, patients should seek urgent medical attention through the most appropriate service, including NHS emergency care where necessary.

Revision Surgery and Further Procedures caret-down

Every effort is made to achieve the best possible outcome, but no surgical procedure can guarantee a specific result, perfect symmetry, invisible scarring or complete satisfaction. Healing, scarring, swelling and final results vary between individuals.

If revision surgery is required because of a complication, eligibility for cover will depend on the hospital’s package terms and the clinical circumstances.

If surgery has been performed to an appropriate clinical standard, but a patient remains dissatisfied with the aesthetic outcome or wishes to pursue further refinement, any revision or additional surgery will usually incur further charges. These may include hospital fees, surgeon’s fees and anaesthetic fees.

Additional Costs and Exclusions caret-down

Unless specifically included in your written quotation, additional costs may apply for investigations, scans, specialist opinions, extra procedures, further hospital admissions, prescriptions, dressings, garments, travel, accommodation, time off work or treatment unrelated to the planned surgery.

The written quotation and the hospital’s own terms and conditions will take precedence over any general information provided on this website.

Payment Terms caret-down

Payment terms, deposits, cancellation policies and refund arrangements are determined by the hospital where your procedure is booked. These will be provided to you before surgery.

Surgery can only proceed once all required payments have been received and all relevant consent, preoperative assessment and hospital requirements have been completed.

Finance caret-down

To help make treatment more affordable, you may choose to spread the cost of your procedure through a personal medical loan with Chrysalis Finance. Subject to eligibility and approval, Chrysalis offers a range of flexible finance options, allowing you to pay for your treatment in manageable monthly instalments rather than a single upfront payment.

The hospitals we work with offer finance options through Chrysalis Finance. Please contact your chosen hospital directly for further information or to discuss any questions.
